GORLESTON RANGERS FC – CHARTER STANDARD DEVELOPMENT CLUB OF THE YEAR
Gorleston Rangers FC, originally founded in 1984, continues to go from strength to strength once again culminating in yet another successful season. During 2012/2013 the Club entered 27 teams in the Norfolk and Suffolk Youth League, 1 girls teams and 1 ladies team in the Norfolk Womens and Girls League and 1 mens team in the Cliff Hotel Sunday League.
The largest youth football club in Norfolk, Gorleston Rangers FC is a Charter Standard Development Club, a status which reflects the high standards set by the Club's personnel. All coaches have undertaken a minimum of Level 1 coaching qualifications, hold First Aid certificates and have been given CRB clearance. The Club also offers opportunities for beginners in the shape of both U5 and U6 midweek training together with a Saturday morning Soccer School for all ages. The Annual Tournament is probably the biggest tournament in the area with around 200 teams aged from 7 – 16 and this year will be held at the Ormiston Academy in Gorleston on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July.
Club honours for the 2012/13 season are as follows: U7 and U8 Fair Play Awards, U9 runners-up in Division One, U10 runners up in Division One and Shield finalists, U11 runners up in Division Two and Shield winners, U12 Shield finalists, U13 runners up in Division One and Fair Play Award Winners, U14 Division Two champions, U15 Cup finalists and Shield winners, U16 Division One champions and Shield winners. The Mens team established itself in Division One following promotion at the end of last season and also reached the final of the Division One Cup. The U16 Girls were declared Division One winners in the NWGL.
Our annual presentation evening was once again held at the Ocean Room, Gorleston with over 1,000 people in attendance. The Club would like to thank the evenings sponsors Specsavers, Great Yarmouth, players, friends and associates for making the evening a resounding success.
Special thanks to ex Norwich City manager Dave Stringer for giving up his time to come and present the Club's 460 members with their trophies.
