Gorleston and Gt Yarmouth's Premier Youth Football Club

Breydon United U12 V GRFC U12A

Match report by "mitchel98"

This weekend we had a morning kick off of 10.30am to an improving Breydon United (formerly Gorleston) at their home ground on The Mag (unfortunately not everyone realised it was there and not The Rec!) and otherwise known as a LOCAL DERBY!

Anyway most of the 13 man team start to arrive around 9.45am, and I was lucky enough to have a little chat with Fabio in the car park before the game, who was again toady co-ordinated with the boys kit - Red hat and socks!. The conversation flowed about today’s game, mobile phones and how much beer we drank last night! But I did bring up the conversation about his clipboard and I can quote “I don’t need it now I know what I am doing - well sort off!”  So there you have it Rangers please be re-assured Fabio knows what he is doing and the children are being well trained and looked after - well sort off!

Back to the pre-match build up, boys gather for the all to well known warm up, Fabio then goes for the clipboard (obviously not totally confident without it hey!?) to write down the team but what’s this………….. A green clipboard? But we are in our familiar AC Milan away kit where is the red clipboard….stop the press we have it but sorry to say had to use a GREEN pen…Mrs Fabio where are the RED pens?!?!? Just as he starts writing the formation and team out we have a pre-match injury……Mitch pulls up with a sprained/twisted knee - off to physio tomorrow….been thinking about this! since you have had your hair cut shorter it seems as though you have lost your strength…..a little like Sampson did…cold last week injured knee this week  !…..but get better soon!

With a re-think and confab (is that a word?) with Fergie the boys have a slightly different than normal line up, Connor moves up front, Zak on the right, Jack M called into centre midfield, Callum to centre half and James drafted in at left back. Apart from that the normal line up!

Brief grasp on the goals

1st - A nice build up involving a number of players from Jack M in midfield who battled well, played a lovely through ball which ping pong around the box until it fell to Captain Spud who went passed the keeper putting us 1-0 up

2nd - Yes Usain Bolt was put through from Spud who placed the ball away nicely putting us 2-0 up

3rd - Again some nice football this time on the left hand side of the pitch involving James who puts Connor in over to Lewis who hit’s a low and hard cross only to be put in by Breydon left back putting us 3-0 up

4th - Well not to sure whether Ben G actually meant to cross the ball here? Did you? Honestly? Although he said he did, crosses a lovely ball in from the right to be met by Connor putting us 4-0 up.

5th - HOLD on a second before I move onto the next goal there was an incident in the Breydon box which resulted in Connor doing an overhead kick…….sorry….Connor tried an over head kick like Rooney yesterday but I have to say it was nothing like Rooney more like a RODNEY!!! Anyway back to the 5th, Zak had some nice play on the left hand side of the pitch beating 2 players laying it off to Connor who finishes it off 5-0 and half time!

Rangers had total control of the game and never looked in danger, but hold on what’s this Breydon attack only for the forward to be brought down by Jordan and results in a PENALTY kick to them, which they capitalised on. Personally speaking and even hearing a number of people comment it was never a penalty and sometimes things will go against us, so we have to learn and live by these decisions. Do not take things personally and to heart no one is or was to blame.

6th - Again a number of shots in the Breydon box Connors saved, Spud hit’s the post but Zak was on hand to show them both how to hit the back of the net putting us 6-1 up

7th - Break on the right, Connor in the box PENATLY, Greeny steps up and fires it into the bottom corner 7-1

8th - A very similar goal to the second Usain Bolt (Matty) is put through after Greeny wins the ball in defence and makes no mistake leaving Breydons back line for dust and puts us 8-1 up

We then attack in numbers and the back line try and make a charge for it as well, again Connor goes through into the box…..PENALTY! Greeny steps up blasts it this time straight down the middle which is saved, rebound is saved and again saved and again pushed out for a corner some excellent saves by Breydons man of the match goal keeper - who kept the score down.

9th - then in the last few minutes Connor gets pulled down again, PENALTY think he must of gone down more times than the Breydon Bridge  , again Greeny steps up not fazed by his miss and places this one into the other corner and gives us a 9-1 lead.

A special mention to Jack M and James who played full games today and put 100% effort and good contribution into the game after only a few appearances from the bench.

So an emphatic 9-1 win puts us one place up in the league to 2nd and 2 games in hand on the league leaders and only 4 points behind!

A good attendance all round this week and I did actually count the number of people this week and not just make it up!  50 adults, 9 children (excluding subs!) 2 dogs and the VIP chairs had been moved to static park benches which some of us enjoyed!

Next week I believe we are away to a very hard and crucial away game to Bungay, and they will want revenge on the cup semi final defeat - REMEMBER we have not beaten them in the league!!!!!
